Bye Bye Japan!

This is my last night in Japan. I was so excited to go home I didn't expect to feel this way. I am actually sad about leaving. My host father came home for literally 5 seconds to say good bye and give me some gifts. Then I went down stairs and my host mother gave me a gift and she prepared an English sentence for me. "To only spend 100 days with you is bad" Wakaru? She looked like she wanted to cry. I met so many great people and I had a great experience!
I still am ready to see my family!

Hakodate!

This weekend I went to my friend Rippy's house in Hokodate. It was a 5 hour bus ride. Being a guest of a Japanese woman is the best. Yet, you feel guilty the whole time. Rippy's parents drove us around everywhere and just waited n the car while we looked at stuff. One time we were in a place for over an hour and they just sat in the car.
Rippy's mother made us so much food I was stuffed all day long. Then she just stood their waiting for us to want more. Also her parents paid for everything. They had a nice house and her dad has his own business and a massage chair. Katie and I both enjoyed that.
On Saturday morning we went over to Rippy's grandmother's house. Which consisted of the grandma, uncle, aunt and cousin. Everyone sat in a circle around Katie and me. Asking questions like what do you think of Obama. And how about Tiger Woods?  And do you think the cousin is an attractive boy? Rippy's grandmother kept calling Kate Cakie and said that Rippy is stupid. I thought that it was custom to keep their thoughts to oneself. But people are always saying rude things about each other in front of their face.
Today we went to an onsen. Japan is the only place I think that you would meet your friends mother and the next day shower and bathe with her naked. Awkward....but I really like onsens they are so relaxing. Rippy made Katie and I go into thing called BaBa it was so wierd it is this thing that shocks you in the water. I was like why would you ever want to do that. It was like STEM only it hurt really bad. And I thought that electricity and water aren't suppose to mix.
Then when we left today everyone came to see us off and Obachan brought us bento and Okasan gave us a bag of goodies and ran to the convenient store when she found out we didn't have anything to drink.

Christmas season.

Rippy and I were going out to buy a diary. I guess it is the thing to do in Japan with your friends is keep a diary only this one you pass back and forth commenting on what the other says and correcting each others 2nd language. While we were at the 100 yen store I was engrossed by all the Christmas decorations I had to get some antlers to wear for the rest of my stay here.

How would you like flakes of gold in your soup?

Went on a tour yesterday and Then we went to this rich girl's Mansion that her mother owns. It Is a museum now but it was pretty cool. The food cost about 30 dollars a person and there was gold in my soup. Real gold. The guy I was sitting next to said it doesn't taste like anything and It is ok to eat just don't eat too much. The gold soup was the only thing I ate we had to pre pay a week in advance and I didn't know the only thing on the menu was going to be fish.

Shopping

This week Katie and I went shopping in a new area. Seemed to be the weirdos part of town. Katie was on her way into a bathroom when a lurking lurker came up to her and said Sex...Sexual...だめ? Then he followed us after Katie left the bathroom but just for a while.

Hanging out with Jun.

So we were talking and I go to cross my legs and then he does too. Then he stops and ask in America men don't cross their legs? I say yeah mostly they don't. He asked why? I said maybe because it isn't manly but the say that the just physically can't do it. He ask oh maybe because Asians are slim. I said they say it is because it crushes their big packages. So the rest of the night Jun wouldn't cross his legs because "something is there" できない.

Filthy Americans.

Yesterday my host mother came up to my room to change my sheets. She asked me at school who changes my sheets. I was like no one. Well I guess I am suppose to but I probably did it three times during the two semesters. She was appalled. She asked if this was the practice of everyone in america. I said no but I think it is common among college students because washing clothes is expensive and we are lazy. I then told her that I hardly ever was my clothes. She said well in my house we change the sheets every two weeks. They also wash their clothes everyday right after they wear them.

My Date with the karate master.

So last night Jun and I went out to yakiniku. I of course invited Katie because the reason why I have agreed to kind of accept Jun's advances it to get Katie in with one of his friends. Oh and I invited Rippi because she gets us all a 30% discount at that restaurant. Plus she is cute and speaks Japanese so Jun had someone to talk to. It amounted to a pretty comical night.

At one point during dinner Katie went to the bathroom and Jun told me that everyone knows that Katie likes this other Korean Macoto. And he said that he could tell by Katie's eyes that she did and also by the fact that she turned red every time they walked by. I believe this is what he said because it was all in Japanese.

When I told Katie what he said she said she didn't like Macoto anymore but this other Korean Kim Joongin. It is funny if you say it fast. Jun said of course he is going to tell them everything that we said.

After we finished eating Jun was pulling out all the stops. It is nice to be treated like a lady sometimes. When we were going out of the restaurant he said come under my umbrella ella ella. Then because it was raining he pulled one of the oldest moves in the books. "totemo samui" it is very cold. Arm goes around me. I pull a whats that over there and duck out. Then he goes to the outside to walk by the cars and says that it is custom for men to block the cars from splashing girls when walking together. Is it like that in America He asks. Heck no.

He walked me all the way back to school. He lives on campus so he was trying to walking me all the way to my bus station and I was trying to let him know that it wasn't necessary. I had to grab him and turn him around and push him toward the school before he got the message.

The next morning Katie and I get on the elevator and it goes down a floor before it goes up to the floor our class is on. So the 4 Koreans get on and we all get off on the top floor so it is a pretty long ride smashed together. Jun gets in and decides it is funny to squish me against the wall. Katie and I can't stop laughing at the awkwardness. Jun asks what are we laughing about but they think it is because one of the Koreans Ubo got a perm like Lupin's the traditional Japanese old lady perm.hahah eww. It was pretty comical.

Any Requests.

I asked my host mother today to teach me how to make Japanese food. She said but you don't eat Japanese food. I said I know I want to learn how for my family and friends. She said to ask you guys what you would like me to learn how to make. So please send me your requests. And Grandma has already requested sushi.

What to do...

When a Korean who speaks little english and I speak little Japanese asks you out for ramen. Yet you have a boyfriend that tells you to have a fling with a karate master does this count? I don't thinks so but it is still fun to be lost in translation with the Korean Harry Potter.

Japans Terror!

Looks unreal
So on Friday the Hi-C club had a Halloween party for the exchange students. It was pretty much a dud. Katie and I were the only ones to go all out. I had the most fun making my costume and getting dressed up that I have ever had on Halloween. After the party we were all going to go out to a club that was having a Halloween themed weekend. Katie and I never made it to the club because we got preoccupied by scaring all the Japanese that were downtown. We chased strangers and made the girls scream. I walked around with a creepy walk everywhere and Katie and I were a great scare team. I was surprised no one tried to retaliate. One time when I went up to these businessmen one of them did grab me and was saying things that I couldn't understand but he was grabbing my arms so hard that it hurt. That was the only time something bad happened but I just ripped my arms out of his hands and left. Most of the time after scaring people they wanted to take pictures with us. We were mini celebrities.
Scary Beautiful
Before the party and all of this Katie and I were shopping at our favorite thrift store Don  Don Down on Wednesday when something bad happened. When we got off the bus I put my wallet in to this plastic bag that I was carrying from the Hyaku en store we were coming from. Then I went shopping found some really cute boots and my basket had a few other adorable items. I went to pay looked at my bag and there was a hole in the bottom of it my wallet was the only thing that had fallen out. Looked everywhere in the store it was no where to be found. So Katie and I went to the police station and reported it. With in 3 hours I had my wallet back and was back at Don Don Down buying everything that I wanted and they kept my basket for me even though I didn't ask them too. If you are going to lose something Japan is the place to do it.
Best Costume
Then Sunday Katie and I went to climb that mountain. It was amazing the snow was beautiful and there was a volcano rebuilding itself in our view the whole time. Most of the time we were trekking through snow which made everything more interesting especially the way back. Then we went to a onsen that was right by a lake so you could basically be in the lake but the water was warm. The walk to the one that was swapping water with the lake had a long walk through this wooden tunnel but it had windows so when you were walking you could look down on the mens onsen. Too bad for them.

Haha.

I just named the post that to get a rise out of yous and it worked. Even got
Sarah to come out of Hiding. haha.  Those back packs are all leather I think thats why they are so expensive. They are suppose to be a gift from the grandparents I guess. They are too cute though. I would put pictures up of the snow but I left my camera in my host fathers car and now he is go on a business trip.

Snow.

It snowed today. I was so excited.

So something very disturbing happened on Saturday. This older lady chose not to clothes her door on her bathroom stall at the subway station. So when me and my friends walked in she was squating over one of those squatty toilets wiping her big butt in front of everyone I wanted to throw up.

Almost to first base with a Nihonjin

I was riding the bus home and I was sitting by a high school boy. He fell asleep and his hand fell on to my leg. I would have been into it if he was a little older.
When I got home something scary happened. I went up to the door of my house and the sliding glass door was wide open and the inner door to the house that is always locked was open. The car was gone so I knew no one was home I was afreared for my life. So I waited out side until my host sister got home and then we both went inside scared but no one was in there and nothing appeared to be taken. I am not quite sure what happened. It gave me the creeps thou.

Dodge Ball.

The basketball team asked me to play dodge ball with them last night. I invited Katie. It was a lot of fun a bit different rules than american dodge ball. Katie and I were scoping out the hotties, none to be found. She kept saying that Kaki was good looking and I was like no he isn't. Then she got a close up and agreed with me. A half hour later she was like ooohh he is cute and I said who and she said that guy wearing the long horns sweat shirt. It was Kaki again. Haha.
People dressed up for dodgeball there was someone in a bear costume, Macdonalds, and KFC uniforms. and then at the end the guy in the Macdonals costume stripped down to a red loin cloth yelled something and ran away pretty sure i saw his penis.

Bugger Lolli

I was at a burger joint  when I sit done to eat I am facing this man on his computer. Then I see him use his little pinky finger. Going to his nose every 10 seconds and lick that lolli after. I didn't throw up because I have seen this before so I am not surprised. My question is how do the buggers regenerate so quickly, once I clean my nose out thats that for most of the day.

Mashed Potatoes.

My host mother is trying to figure out how to cook mash potatoes. She used a blow torch today. I told her Americans just plop it on the plate maybe put some gravy on it and call it good. Then she asked would the meal be chicken and rice and mashed potatoes. hahaha. I didn't know how to explain to her potatoes play the roll of the rice.

I talk to Sam she says that she is in the happiest place on earth. I think that is funny considering she is in Africa. But she is still amazing as ever.

My sensei was telling us three different was to say I am hungry. One is the formal way, another is informal, and the last is the one only men say and you don't say it in class. But my sensei said he will say it in class cause he is not decent you will find that out bit by bit. It was a class stopper he is a pretty fun guy.
